How does this paint colour matcher work?

This tool uses the CIEDE2000 colour difference standard, the same formula used in the paint industry, to find the perceptually closest paint match from over 10,000 colours across four major Australian paint brands. Enter any colour reference and see the top three closest matches from each brand, with accuracy scores.

Frequently Asked Questions

What input formats are supported?

HEX codes like #FF5733 or FF5733. RGB values like 255, 87, 51. PMS reference numbers like 185 C or 2715 U. The tool auto-detects which format you've entered.

How accurate is the digital colour match?

The CIEDE2000 formula models how humans perceive colour differences. A ΔE score under 2 means the difference is barely visible to the human eye. However, screen calibration varies between devices. Always confirm with a physical paint swatch before purchasing.

What does the ΔE score mean?

ΔE (Delta E) measures perceived colour difference. Under 1 = indistinguishable. 1–2 = noticeable only under close inspection. 2–5 = visible difference. Over 5 = clearly different colours.

Can you match a colour exactly for a custom project?

Yes! At Eizi Design Co. we can match any colour onto custom props, plinths, backdrops, and installations for events and activations. Get in touch for a quote.
